2025 Shanghai CIIE – Crafting A Paper Art Installation For DuPont

The Shanghai CIIE serves as a key platform linking China with the world, facilitating international procurement, investment promotion, cultural exchange, and open cooperation. In early October 2025, DuPont China commissioned us to create a custom paper art installation and a series of paper plants using DuPont™ paper materials. With two decades of expertise in paper art production, our team embraced the project with confidence.

We began by constructing a circular framework based on provided renderings, using aluminum-plastic composite pipes and PP plastic sheets-materials known for their flexibility and durability. Next, we hand-folded DuPont™ paper into elegant fan-shaped modules and carefully mounted them onto the structure. The final phase involved on-site installation. For the paper plants, we drew from an extensive library of botanical templates-such as Monstera leaves and ferns-streamlining the process of cutting, assembling, and finishing each piece.

Our team arrived at the DuPont booth one day before the expo opening. The installation required precision and patience. We started by setting up an overhead truss system, from which the paper artwork was suspended using nearly invisible fishing lines. One challenge we faced was achieving a perfectly circular form for the installation. Through meticulous adjustments, we refined its shape until it reached a seamless, rounded silhouette. The paper plants were artfully arranged and secured onto the platform with adhesive, creating a lifelike "growing" effect that brought natural vitality to the space.
