How We Completed a Custom Paper Art Prop Order Worth RMB 3 Million for Dior in 3 Months

In 2024, FLYING FLOWERS produced custom paper art props worth RMB 3 million for Dior's global Christmas window displays. Sampling and process development took approximately one month, followed by three months of bulk production.
The project combined paper craftsmanship, 3D printing and lighting. Designs included lions, monkeys, deer, frogs, coral, seashells, swans and unicorns.

1.How Did We Help the Client Meet a Tight Production Deadline?
The client had strict requirements for materials, shapes, colors, dimensions and finishing. We needed to reproduce the approved details consistently while keeping production on schedule.
We formed a dedicated project team and recruited 100 additional production workers. They were divided into 10 groups, each led by one of our professional designers and assigned a specific product.
Our designers provided hands-on training in paper cutting, paper fur application and other required processes. Each group had clear tasks and a designer responsible for guiding the work.
Dior also stationed personnel at our factory, allowing the client's representatives and our production team to communicate directly throughout production.
2.How Did We Resolve Color and Lighting Issues Before Production?
Sampling took approximately one month. Alongside the paper craftsmanship, we needed to resolve printed color differences and lighting performance.
Comparing Printed Samples with the Client
The initial printed colors differed noticeably from the required result. We asked six printing factories to produce samples and submitted them for the client to compare.
The client selected the closest match. This gave us a confirmed physical reference for subsequent production.
Testing Lighting in the Actual Props
Some lighting strips became too hot during operation, while others produced uneven brightness.
We compared products from five lighting suppliers, requested quality and safety documentation, and tested the components in samples. We ultimately selected a supplier with 12 years of experience.
Testing the lighting inside the props helped us assess its actual performance before bulk production began.
3.How Did We Reproduce the Client's Paper Fur Details at Scale?
Paper fur was the most technically demanding part of the project. We needed to create the required texture using paper while keeping the finish consistent across the order.
The way each paper piece was cut, positioned and attached affected the finished surface. Direction, spacing and layering all contributed to the appearance of the fur.
During sampling, differences in individual working methods led to visible variations. Producing a successful sample was one step; teaching a larger team to repeat the technique was another.
Our designers conducted three days of focused, hands-on training. They demonstrated the application method and guided workers through practice, addressing both the finished appearance and working efficiency.
During bulk production, each designer continued to supervise their assigned product group. Dior's on-site team supervised the work, and paper fur details were included in the final inspection.
This process was central to the order: turning detailed paper craftsmanship into a method that could be repeated in bulk production.
4.How Did We Work with the Client During Bulk Production?
After the samples and production methods were confirmed, the project moved into bulk production. Dior's headquarters assigned a dedicated team to supervise work at our factory.
Our designers continued to guide the production groups, while our project team coordinated directly with Dior's representatives on requirements and issues arising during the work.
Bulk production was completed in three months. Including sampling and process development, the project took approximately four months.
5.How Did We Support the Client's Inspection and International Delivery?
Dior's team led the quality inspection, with our staff supporting the process. Checks covered the structure, lighting and paper fur details of the finished props.
We prepared custom cartons for each product category and added wooden crating to protect the props for shipment to different countries.
The finished pieces were used in Dior's global Christmas window displays.
